The Special Interest Group on Pain in Childhood has members from across 54 different countries, with the map above showing the amount of members per country as of June 2019:

You can help us spread the word by speaking to your colleagues about the benefits of the SIG. Information on how to join the SIG can be found here.
We are also engaging in several activities to increase our international awareness. For example, we are reaching out to local representatives to keep us posted on activities ongoing in their country and cover such local events happening around the world in our newsletter. If an activity on pediatric pain is taking place or has taken place in your country, please contact Dr. Line Caes at line.caes [at] stir.ac.uk with the details and we’ll advertise help you with communication about the event within the SIG community.

Overview of our main activities

International Symposium on Pediatric Pain
The Special Interest Group sponsors the biannual International Symposium on Pediatric Pain (ISPP). More information about ISPP can be found here and below are the links for more information on the most recent ISPP conferences.
Distinguished Career Award in Pediatric Pain

This award honors an individual with a long-standing, productive career in pediatric pain research. The awardee must have a track record of innovative research as evidenced by publications, sustained research support, national and international presentations, with participation or leadership of scientific research review groups or scientific organizations. The recipient should have demonstrated outstanding mentorship of research trainees and/or junior faculty, service to the professional community, with some contributions to the wider scientific community within a country nationally (or at an international level), and have a reputation of scientific integrity and academic collegiality within the field.

Early Career Award in Pediatric Pain
(formerly called Young Investigator Award)

This award honors an individual who has shown outstanding achievements in pediatric pain research within 10 years after award of their PhD or last postgraduate research degree. Researchers from all disciplines/specialties who are contributing to the field of pediatric pain, and from all geographic regions, are eligible for nomination.

Newsletter

Three times a year the SIG publishes a newsletter which highlights any pediatric pain related updates from across the world, upcoming events and conferences as well as putting the spotlight on a variety of our members to showcase the diversity within the pediatric pain community. Pediatric Pain Letter

The Pediatric Pain Letter (PPL) provides free, open-access, peer-reviewed commentaries on pain in infants, children and adolescents. Book reviews and announcements of events related to pediatric pain are also accepted. Links are provided to Medline abstracts for articles cited or reviewed in PPL. Find out more about PPL here.
